The speakers for the rear doors, rear cap, and trunk lid are usually full-range, although speaker components have become increasingly popular. Rear speakers provide sound for rear seat passengers and complement the sound of the front row. Generally, they do not contribute significantly to the sound experience of the front passengers. Consequently, they may be less important for drivers who don’t usually transport passengers, or for sound enthusiasts who don’t want any interference with the sound quality at the front of the vehicle.

What size speakers should I buy? It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by a long list of car speakers, all of which are different sizes. The good news is that you don’t have to worry too much about the size of the speakers once you’ve let us know which vehicle you’re buying for and whether you need front or rear speakers (or both).
Sometimes, you’ll have the option to choose from a few speaker sizes for a particular location. In this case, our general rule of thumb is, “bigger is better.” So, if you have to choose between a 5 1/4″ speaker with a stand or a 6″x9″ one, we generally recommend the 6″x9″ for more impact.
